An update to Highslide JS .NET is available today. I recommend that everyone upgrade, to benefit from the memory leak fixes in the latest Highslide JS.

v0.7 (4/29/2008)

• Updated embedded Highslide version to 3.3.17.
• Improved caption rendering, using inline caption divs. This should result in more semantic markup, pairing your captions with your images.
• Added HighslideManager property: NumberOfImagesToPreload. This allows you to control how many images are automatically preloaded.
• Added HighslideManager property: FadeInOut. When true, this fades the enlargement in and out as it’s resizing.
• Added HighslideManager property: RenderScriptInPlace. This allows you to control where on the page the Highslide JS script is inserted in your page.
• Updated download to include a sample site, to make it a little easier to get up and running quickly.

Embedded outline graphics!

Finally, the control does what I really wanted it to from the start: It completely encapsulates Highslide JS into a single file. You no longer need a graphics/outlines directory with external outline images. Absolutely everything you need is embedded in the control’s .DLL.

If you’re upgrading from a previous version, drop the GraphicsPath property from your HighslideManager control and feel free to delete the outlines directory from your site.

Just a quick Highslide update.

The HighslideManager control now has a ControlBar property. If enabled (and it’s enabled by default), all zoomed images will have a control bar overlay.

I’ve included embedded CSS, images, and cursors for the default style, pictured above. However, custom styling can be obtained via the controlbar CSS classes.

Your wishes are my command. Highslide JS .NET now includes support for captioning. The captions can be specified using the Caption property of each HighslideImage control, and can be easily styled using CSS.

Also, ~ is now correctly replaced with the application path in path properties.

Update: Highslide JS .NET is available for download now.

I’ve been working on and off for some time to encapsulate Torstein Honsi’s excellent Highslide JS library into a .NET control. Finally, pending naming, it is ready for use. It should be available for download in the next couple days. Until then, here is a preview of it in action:
